Ellen Lord, RN, MSN, CNOR
AORN Works Consultant


Ellen Lord, a retired Army Colonel, built her perioperative career within the military, both at home and on foreign soil.


Ellen’s background includes service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colo. where she
served as chief nursing officer of the perioperative services. She has managed the perioperative services at medical centers around the globe for more than 30 years and served as the Perioperative Consultant to the Army Surgeon General. She has spent more than 15 years teaching courses and mentoring both military and civilian nurses.


Ellen specializes in perioperative operations, education, mentoring and central sterile processing consulting. Her vast perioperative and nursing administration experiences give her a keen insight into operations and the human factors that influence improvement. That ability makes her an invaluable asset to the AORN Works team and its clients.


Ellen holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from George Mason University and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Colorado. She is certified in perioperative nursing by the Competency & Credentialing Institute. She is an active member of the AORN Denver chapter.
